There’s Something for Everyone at Bunch
It’s easy to find something from your past, present and future at one of our favourite Ford City retail shops: Bunch. The store is hard to miss with its fun and zany retro logo, especially considering its location amidst many of the remaining vacant buildings on Drouillard Rd. All of the cheerful curiosities hanging in the window easily lure you in during a Saturday stroll, perhaps after popping by Chance coffee or the Pressure Drop patio. The selection of goods in the shop are curated (and some created) by the store owner, Lauren Potvin — most of which are sure to tickle the fancy of any retrophiliac.
This retail concept shop offers its community an assortment of small batch, vintage, handmade, and one-of-a-kind items delicately displayed in a space so nostalgic it’s actually hard to leave. It’s also worth noting that the vintage arcade and Tiny Art Vending Machine are addictive, so be sure to leave enough time in your schedule for a bit of gaming after successfully seeking out a new piece for your wardrobe or your abode. But at Bunch, “it’s all good” so go ahead and stay a while cause you’re always welcome to stick around.
Local collaborations with artists and like-minded store owners are some of the fun ways that Potvin keeps her doors swinging and her shoppers happy. What we especially love about Bunch (besides being one of BCL’s neighbours) is the boutique’s commitment to sustainability. By sourcing vintage and handmade items, Bunch is able to maintain a small carbon footprint, which is at the core of her business model… alongside the notion of being true to oneself, whoever that may be.
Since opening in 2021, Bunch has already been through one expansion, taking it from one of the tiniest of shops in Essex County to a cozy space, double the size. They also run a successful online store too, sending many items internationally and to retro-loving states like Florida and California. As more businesses have put down roots in Ford City, Bunch has become a necessary stop on a busy weekend of supporting local in our city’s most up-and-coming neighbourhood.
