At Home With: Kristen Zonta
In 2021, our client Kristen Zonta embarked on an exciting new chapter, trading a more suburban lifestyle in LaSalle for a vibrant, walkable neighbourhood in one of Windsor’s core neighbourhoods.
As a busy advertising executive in Detroit, Kristen sought a sanctuary that seamlessly fit her dynamic lifestyle—something the perfect size for her and her beloved dog, Leon. Kristen’s efficient and decisive nature meant she didn’t have time to tour countless properties, so she relied on Border City Living to find the perfect match. “They brought me to an off-market house, and it was the one,” she says with satisfaction.
Kristen’s home is a testament to her bold and unique vision. Inspired by the art deco era of her 1920s home, she infused her space with jewel tones, vibrant colours, and fashion-forward designs. From handpainted ceilings to music-themed accents, every corner of her home tells a story, reflecting her edgy and stylish personality.
Collaborating with a decorator, she ensured everything was perfectly in place before moving in. “I wanted everything set and ready, so I could just move in and enjoy,” Kristen explains. Her home boasts a custom-made couch, indoor sauna, a pool for entertaining and even a particular room for private tarot readings. “Knowing what you want and having the right team to execute it makes all the difference,” Kristen affirms.
A desire for a walkable, connected community inspired Kristen’s move. Proximity to her workplace across the border was a bonus, but the local charm and amenities drew her in. “The suburbs were too isolating for me. I wanted a place where I could walk to everything,” Kristen recalls.
Her life in Walkerville is now a vibrant blend of work, leisure, and community. Mornings often kick off with a cup of coffee at Café Amor, followed by a stop at the Petal Truck for fresh flowers after her yoga and pilates sessions. Brunching at Twisted Apron with friends is a regular treat, and she often unwinds at Gladstone Commons for happy hour over oysters. This routine not only reflects her love for her community but also her ability to balance work and leisure.
Leon, her loyal companion, loves the neighbourhood just as much. With Willistead Park nearby, he regularly meets his friends and favourite dog walkers from Woof Weekends, making Walkerville an ideal home for both of them.
In true BCL fashion, her new home is not just a place to live but a reflection of her journey and aspirations—a fresh start in her 30s, a sanctuary of style and substance.
