The Gladstone Project

Most of the Walkerville neighbourhood has been observing the ongoing change to a longtime local landmark and watering hole on Gladstone Avenue. For the past two years, at the corner of Gladstone and Cataraqui The Bradt Family has been rebuilding a vulnerable 100-year-old tavern that they had architecturally re-designed for commercial/residential use. The building that once served as the local bar for the likes of  Mr. Chandler Walker and fire chief Thomas Drury in the mid-1900’s isn’t short on history or character. Here’s your chance to come and take the first peak inside this development project that has been on everyone’s radar!

The initial plans for the building didn’t include such extensive repairs or hardcore reconstruction but like many real estate endeavours and renovation projects, this one didn’t exactly turn out as planned – especially considering the dilapidated state of the building to begin with.

As the residential portion of the project comes to a wrap, 788 Gladstone is home to four modern studio apartments that are a perfect harmony of old character and new everything else. These apartments are currently up for grabs and boast a ton of natural light, high ceilings, exposed bricks, bamboo counter tops, clean lines and sleek kitchens. They are also fitted with brand new appliances, high efficiency mini-split heating and cooling units, and glossy new bathrooms.

As the upper, residential floor nears completion the buzz continues about what’s in store for the main floor commercial space.
